Cultural services

We offer a wide variety of cultural events for the residents of Salla and tourists. The Museum of War and Reconstruction in Salla and the Sallan Rajakievari (traditional tavern) are also part of the cultural services of the municipal district.

For example, we organise concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, and author and lecturer visits for both children and adults. In addition, we organise various events in the museum at Rajakievari tavern, which tourists are especially enthusiastic to participate in.

We also cherish the local cultural heritage. Salla has many skilled music and art enthusiasts.

Repeating each year are Easter music events, the veteran commemoration day, the Salla Day market, the Independence Day celebration, and the Christmas light up around the first advent. In addition, there are village singalongs during the summer and Christmas season.

Children, adolescents, and elderly people are taken into account by organising various cultural events at the Early-Childhood Education Centre, schools, and senior centres.

We collaborate with other subdivisions of the municipality, the parish, organisations, village actors, and Matkalle Sallaan ry – Travelling in Salla Association. Cultural services are led by the director of the library and cultural activities.

Report your own event!

If you are arranging a cultural event, please inform about it on the event calendar and to the cultural services, for example, the cultural-services instructor. Often, we can help with communicating and informing, and other cooperation is also possible.

Salla Day

Salla, which is also a Finnish female name, celebrates its name day every year on 19.7. with a spectacular market festival offering plenty to do for both adults and children, vacationers as well as locals.
