Market square rules

The market square is run by the municipality of Salla’s office of technical services, Postipolku 3.

  1. Vendors may not have vehicles other than vending vehicles on the market square. Equipment must be kept in the reserved area. Other motor-vehicle traffic in the market square area is forbidden.

  2. The municipality has organised a WC for the vendors, with a hand washing and water point, as well as the possibility to use electricity. The key for the service building and access to the electricity point is available when the fee is paid. The deposit for the key is €20.

  3. The municipality’s supervisor has the right to demand that a vendor, who does not comply with written or oral instructions, to leave. The same applies to customers or the public.

  4. The sale, preparation, or serving of foodstuffs at the market square is regulated by the Finnish Food Act. The sale of foodstuffs must be notified to the health inspector in advance.

  5. Foodstuffs must be kept high enough off the ground, on a sales counter that is easy to keep clean, and must be adequately protected from moisture, dust, heat, and light.

  6. No chemicals should go down the drains, as they may cause difficulties for the waste-water treatment plant.

  7. Pets are allowed at the market square, if on a leash and under the constant control of the owner. The pet owner is fully responsible for his/her pet.

  8. Vendors must keep their sales spot clean and orderly. When finished, vendors must take care of sorting their waste in the correct places provided by the municipality.
